QUEBEC CITY – At the first bracket-style PBR (Professional Bull Riders) International Major event to take place on Canadian soil, Marcos Gloria (Central de Minas, Brazil) captured the title at the Canadian Iron Cowboy, presented by Couche-Tarde, inside the Videotron Centre in Québec, the third stop of the 2018 season for the nation’s premier Monster Energy Tour.

The 27-year-old collected a paycheck for $19,125 in addition to a crucial 300 world points, catapulting him more than 60 spots in the world standings, now No. 31 after beginning the event ranked No. 98.

Gloria began the event as the lone rider to advance to the knockout bracket on buckoff time, narrowly missing the 8-second mark when Tykro Total (Wild Hoggs Bucking bulls) sent him to the dirt in 7.99 seconds.

In the event’s quarterfinals, Gloria, who earned a re-ride, covered Tykro Checkered Flag (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 82.5 points to eliminate reigning PBR World Champion Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana).

Returning for the semifinals, the Brazilian rider topped Justin Lloyd (Tisdale, Saskatchewan) when he made the 8 on 2015 PBR Canada Bull of the Year Minion Stuart (Skori Bucking Bulls) for 84 points.

Completing his Cinderella story march to victory inside the Videotron Centre, Gloria captured the event title after staying aboard his Championship Round draw longer than Brock Radford (De Winton, Alberta). Gloria faced off against Happy Camper (Two Bit Bucking Bulls), one of the nation’s rankest bovine athletes who has captured four bull of the event titles thus far in 2018, but was overpowered at the 6.26-second mark.

Matching his rise up the world standings, Gloria also climbed the Canadian standings where he is now ranked No. 2 after earning 790 national points, now 367.5 points behind No. 1 Radford.

Backed by a 3-for-4 effort, Radford finished second at the International Major to collect $8,881.29, 410 Canadian and 190 world points. Like Gloria, Radford also climbed the world standings rising from No. 39 to No. 30.

The top-ranked rider in Canada began the night with an 82-point trip on Homeboy (Skori Bucking Bulls), the third best scoring of the opening round.

Facing off against Ulterra’s Night Vision (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) in the quarterfinals, Radford scored 83.5 points to best Marco Eguchi (Poa, Brazil) who bucked off Pitch n’ Candy (Vold Rodeo Co.) in 7.42 seconds.

The 22-year-old then advanced to the final round compliments of an 83-point ride on Tequila Jax (Vold Rodeo), eliminating Lachlan Richardson (Gresford, New South Wales, Australia) who was sent to the dirt by Mr. Legit (Vold Rodeo/Prescott) in 4.53 seconds.

His perfect performance, however, came to an end when he was bucked off by Twisted (Vold Rodeo) in 2.15 seconds in the final round.

Richardson finished third after going 1-for-3. His qualified ride came aboard All Business (Two Bit Bucking Bulls/Hy-Kik Ranch) for 84.5 points in Round 1.

The Australian rider netted $6,875.29, along with 200 Canadian and 30 world points, where he is now ranked No. 69, up 14 positions.

Lloyd finished fourth, going 2-for-3, with his qualified rides coming aboard Like a G6 (Triple R Bull Co.) for 80.5 points in Round 1, and Daph’s Pet (Vold Rodeo) for 82 points in the semifinals of the knockout bracket.

Tying for his best finish of the season, the 30-year-old earned $4,223.29, 180 Canadian and 30 world points. The performance allowed Lloyd to crack into the Top-10 in the Canadian national standings, where he is now ranked No. 9.

Rounding out the Top 5 was Lockwood, the youngest World Champion in PBR history. The 20-year-old advanced to the bracketed rounds as the top-ranked rider after covering Marshal’s Law (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) for 86 points in the opening round. His event, however, ended in the quarterfinals when his 81.5-point trip on Hookasaurus (Wild Hoggs Bucking Bulls) wasn’t enough to advance to the Top 4.

His flawless 2-for-2 effort, earned him $7,198.29 and 10 world points.

For the first time this season on the Canadian Monster Energy Tour, Twisted was named the high-marked bull of the event. The bovine athlete was awarded a 46-point bull score for his trip in the Championship Round when he bucked off Radford in 2.15 seconds.

Fans can relive all the action from the second-ever International Major on Tuesday, June 5 on TSN2 at 7:00 p.m. ET when the network broadcasts a one-hour highlights show.

The Canadian Monster Energy Tour next travels to Halifax, Nova Scotia on May 26 at the Scotiabank Centre, marking the league’s first trip back to the city since 2011. The action will begin at 7:00 p.m. AT.
