OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The record capacity crowd inside Chesapeake Energy Arena went wild Sunday afternoon when Oklahoma’s own Ryan Dirteater (Hulbert) tallied 93.25 points, the highest score of the season, in the championship round to win the 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast Express Employment Professionals Invitational in Oklahoma City.

Dirteater’s victory-sealing ride came aboard fellow Oklahoma athlete and reining YETI World Champion Bull SweetPro’s Bruiser (D&H Cattle Co./Buck Cattle Co.). In going 3-for-3, the 28-year-old earned his first victory not only of the 2018 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) season but also the first-ever in his home state. With the victory, Dirteater earned 545 world points and $36,700. He is now ranked No. 4 in the world standings, rising 17 positions from No. 21 where he entered the event.

Also going 3-for-3 to finish in second was Dener Barbosa (Paulo de Faria, Brazil) who covered Wild Goose (D&H Cattle Co.) as his final bull of the night for a score of 88.5 points to earn 340 world points and $17,075.00.

The runner-up finish, his highest of the season, vaulted Barbosa to No. 1 in the world, now leading No. 2 Cooper Davis (Jasper, Texas) by 45 points.

Rising to No. 8 in the world standings, Stetson Lawrence (Williston, North Dakota) finished third after delivering the high-marked ride of his career on the premier series in the championship round, 92.25 points aboard Cochise (Jane Clark/Gene Owen). He earned 290 towards the world standings and took home $14,000.

Dakota Buttar (Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada) and Jess Lockwood (Volborg, Montana) finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively, as the pair both rode bulls on Championship Sunday.

For the second weekend in a row, Buttar led the event heading into the championship round. The 25-year-old surged to the event lead after he rode Bottoms Up (Hart Cattle Company) in Round 2. The matchup was a familiar one for the Canadian, having drawn the Oklahoma bull as his first out on the premier series when he made his debut in 2016.

In the championship round his four out ride streak came to an end when he bucked off More Big Bucks (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve/Staci Wilks/Bar Ranch). Now ranked a career-high No. 10 in the world, he earned 145 world points along with $8,150.

Lockwood bucked off his bull in Round 2 but bounced back with a solid 88.5 points aboard Gangster’s Wildside (Major League Bucking Bulls). He finished the event with 130 world points and a paycheck for $5,700. The reigning World Champion is now ranked No. 11.

The YETI “Built for the Wild” Bull of the Event was Magic Train (Phenom Genetics) who dispatched Valdiron de Oliveira (Piranhas, Brazil) in 4.21 seconds, stopping the 38-year old’s ride streak of the 2018 season at nine, during the championship round.

Fans will be able to watch the action in its entirety at PBR.com/ondemand. Action from Round 2 and the Championship Round can be seen starting at 8:00 a.m. ET on Monday, January 22.

The 25th PBR: Unleash The Beast next travels to Sacramento, California and the Golden 1 Center for the Wrangler Long Live Cowboys Classic. The event will be on Friday, January 26 at 7:45 p.m. PT, Saturday, January 27 at 6:45 p.m. PT and Sunday, January 28 at 1:45pm CT.

In other PBR action this weekend, Tye Chandler (Celina, Texas) won his first Real Time Pain Relief Velocity Tour (RVT) event of the season at the North Charleston Classic Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum.

Chandler took the buckle after scoring 84 points aboard Zaccheaus (Davis Rodeo Ranch/ Fogle) in Round 1 before earning 84.5 points on Scratch Off (Smith/Harper/Scott Burruss) in the championship round. The 22-year-old earned 120 points toward the world standings and $7,900, along with an invite to the Iron Cowboy, the PBR’s second Major event of the year, in Arlington, Texas.
