PORTLAND, Ore. – Shealyn Hafer was the top-performing women’s golfer in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference last week, and on Monday the Montana State University Billings senior earned her second GNAC Player of the Week award of the season.

Hafer tied her personal best with a 73 in the opening round of the Western New Mexico University Mustang Invitational on Friday. That was the lowest single-round score by a GNAC golfer, among the three conference teams that competed at the event. Hafer then followed with a 78 on Saturday, giving her a two-round total of 151 which was also the lowest mark among any of the GNAC women competing.

Hafer boosted her season scoring average to 79.6 strokes per round, which leads MSUB’s team and ranks her No. 9 overall in the GNAC.

Hafer’s two-round score was also the best of her MSUB career, as she surpassed a 153 that she achieved last April at the 2018 GNAC Championships in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

It is the second GNAC Player of the Week award Hafer has received this season, and the second in her career. She first received the honor on March 18, after setting her career best with a 73 at the Winona State Warrior Invitational.

The Yellowjacket women’s golf team is in action on Monday and Tuesday at the Sonoma State University Intercollegiate, at Santa Rosa Golf Club in California.
