MSU Billings inks volleyball pair from Washington

BILLINGS – The Montana State University Billings volleyball team added a pair of defensive specialists to its’ 2019-20 recruiting class Monday. Molly Packer (Vancouver, Washington) and Marissa Logozzo (Pasco, Washington) became the fifth and sixth players to sign a National Letter of Intent for MSUB this offseason. The Yellowjackets now have three incoming recruits from the state of Washington as Logozzo and Packer join Joelle Mahowald who is from Nine Mile Falls.

5-6 – Defensive Specialist/Libero
Intended Major: Biology

Packer joins the Yellowjackets after finishing a strong high school career at Prairie High School in Vancouver, Washington. A defensive specialist in high school, Packer earned three varsity letters and was named team captain. Packer was named second team all-conference as a junior and first team all-conference as a senior and received the coaches award for her achievements on the court. Packer was also a four year letter winner in track and field in high school as a sprinter. She is one of three recruits in 2019 from the state of Washington but the first from Vancouver.

Coach Williams on Packer: “Molly is a relentless defender. She pursues every ball with determination and plays with a lot of grit. She will fit in well with the type of defense we run at MSUB and I am looking forward to working with her.”

Packer on choosing MSUB: “I chose MSUB because I knew I was going to be majoring in Biology and MSUB is located in a medical based town. I really liked the campus. I thought it was the perfect size for me. I also loved the girls that I met on the team as well as the coaching staff.”

Marissa Logozzo
Pasco, Washington
5-6 – Defensive Specialist/Libero
Intended Major: Business

Logozzo hails from Pasco, Washington, where she played four years of varsity volleyball at Chiawana High School as the team’s primary libero. She earned four letters and helped her team to an eighth place finish at the Washington state tournament class 4A. As a senior, Logozzo capped off her career as a first team all-conference selection and all-state honorable mention. She also earned awards for her character and classroom pedigree. Logozzo was a Chiawana High School Scholar Athlete for 2018 and earned the sportsmanship award.

Coach Williams on Logozzo: “Marissa is a quick libero that has the ability to read very well. She has received numerous accolades throughout her high school career and I am excited to get her into an MSUB jersey.”

Logozzo on choosing MSUB: “I absolutely loved everything about MSUB. The coaching staff is amazing and the college and city atmosphere felt like the perfect fit for me. It’s a blessing to be able to continue my volleyball career at the next level, while getting an education. I can’t wait to be a part of this team. Go Yellowjackets!”

The Yellowjackets have added three defensive specialists, two middle blockers, and one setter since NLI early signing day to bolster their recruiting roster. MSU Billings has improved their overall record every season since Casey Williams took over the program in 2016. They will begin the 2019 campaign in August.
