BILLINGS – Introducing his fourth signing for the 2019-20 academic year on Thursday, Montana State University Billings women’s basketball head coach Kevin Woodin announced Danielle Zahn as the newest addition to next year’s roster.

Zahn is a 5-foot-5 point guard from Florence, who is finishing her career at Florence-Carlton High School. “I am excited to have Danielle join our basketball program next fall,” said Woodin. “She caught our eye at last year’s Treasure State Classic in Billings, and she also played well in Washington and Oregon last summer. She has excellent court awareness and toughness, and she is a great floor leader for her high-school team. She is the type of Montana student-athlete we want at MSUB.”

So far, Zahn has been selected all-state three times and has captained the Falcons all four of her prep seasons. She is a four-time offensive player of the year, has been a four-time Bitterroot all-star, and has competed in the Treasure State all-star games. Her personal bests include 35 points in a game, and she had 13 assists in the first game of her freshman season. As a junior, Zahn averaged 22 points and helped lead her team to the state tournament.

“Coach Woodin is an amazing coach, and throughout the process of being recruited he was always willing to answer my questions,” Zahn said. “I really like the style of play MSUB has, and thought I would fit in very well. Coach Woodin told me their team is very well bonded, and they do a lot of things off the court to help them be successful. MSUB also has an outstanding academic program, where I am excited to be getting my degree.”

Zahn joins Kali Gulick of Kalispell, and TyRaa Manuel and Shayla Montague of Billings as the first four women’s basketball recruits for next season.
