BILLINGS – Joining the administrative team in the athletic department at Montana State University Billings, Charlie Snelson has been hired as the assistant director of communications announced on Monday.

Snelson will assist in the coverage of MSUB’s 15 varsity sports, and will help to manage the athletic department’s web presence, social media footprint, and relations with external media. Snelson will begin his position in the communications office on Aug. 1.

“It is an honor to join the Montana State Billings athletics team,” said Snelson. “I am very grateful to Krista Montague and Evan O’Kelly for this opportunity. Having the chance to tell the stories of student-athletes and their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom is my great privilege. I could not be more excited to start building relationships with our coaches, staff, and student athletes.”

A native of Mankato, Minnesota, Snelson recently completed his master’s degree in sport administration at the University of Northern Colorado. During his time in Greeley, Snelson was a graduate assistant for sports information within the Bears’ athletic department. He was responsible for coverage of the university’s NCAA Division I athletics teams.

Snelson also has experience as the broadcaster for the Mankato MoonDogs Baseball Club, a collegiate summer ball program that competes in the Northwoods League.

Snelson completed his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Minnesota State University in 2016.

He grew up in Mankato and is a 2011 graduate of Mankato West High School.
