LARAMIE, Wyo. – As a way to show support for a young Wyoming Cowboy Basketball team that is facing adversity, Maury Brown of Cheyenne, Wyo., has purchased 2,000 complimentary tickets for fans to the San Jose State at Wyoming game this Wednesday, Jan. 23. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. in Wyoming’s Arena-Auditorium.
Fans may come by the UW Athletics Ticket Office throughout the day on Tuesday, Jan. 22 beginning at 10 a.m. to pick up the complimentary tickets. Tickets may be also be picked up throughout the day on Wednesday up until tipoff. Businesses are encouraged to invite their staffs, and everyone is encouraged to bring family and friends to cheer on the Pokes on Wednesday night. It is anticipated that there will be enough complimentary tickets to accommodate everyone, so it is a great opportunity for fans to show their support for a young Cowboy team.
“This is the most challenging season I have ever witnessed as an athletics director,” said University of Wyoming Athletics Director Tom Burman. “Numerous injuries to key players have forced a few remaining veterans and our young players to have to shoulder the load. Our players and coaches need all the support we can give them to show how much we appreciate their efforts.
“Thanks go to Maury Brown of Cheyenne for sponsoring the 2,000 comp tickets. I also want to thank all of our fans for their support. Wednesday will be an opportunity to thank the young men in our basketball program for battling through a difficult situation. We invite all who care about UW Athletics to come join us.”
