Dawson Community College enjoying record-setting softball season, will host Region XIII tourney

GLENDIVE – For the first time ever, Dawson Community College will be hosting the NJCAA Region XIII Division II Softball Tournament.  The six-team double-elimination tournament at BL Baker Memorial Field runs May 3-5.

There will be four games on Friday and Saturday, starting at 10 a.m. each day and running every two hours. The games on Sunday will start at 12 p.m. with the championship game at 2 p.m. and, if necessary, a final game at 4 p.m.

DCC will not only be the host but they will also be the #1 seed in the tournament. Their first game will be at 2 p.m. on Friday. Bay College from Michigan will be the #2 seed. Dakota County Technical College from Minnesota will be the #3 seed and Lake Region State College of North Dakota will be the #4 seed. Gogebic Community College from Michigan and Williston State College from North Dakota will be the #5 and #6 seeds respectively.

The Dawson softball program (35-3) is having a historic year. The Bucs have already broken the school record for wins in a season with eight games remaining in the regular season. They are also approaching a top 20 national ranking.

The winner of the Region XIII Tournament will host the District Championship on May 15-16 with the winner advancing to the National Tournament.
