GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College head softball coach Jim LeProwse reached a monumental mark in his career by winning his 200th game on Friday when Bucs beat Gogebic Community College, 18-5.
LeProwse’s collegiate coaching career started in 2010 at DCC as part of the program’s transition from NJCAA Region IX Division 1 to Region XIII Division 2. Now in his ninth season he is the most successful softball coach in the history of DCC.
LeProwse has been named Mon-Dak Conference Coach of the Year six times and NJCAA Region XIII Coach of the Year five times. He has led his teams to six conference championships along with one Region IX championship and four Region XIII championships.
“It was sure a joy to share my 200th victory with this special group of players, and it is also a tribute to all of the great players who I have had the privilege to coach in my previous eight seasons at Dawson,” said LeProwse. “I am very blessed to have all of the people in my life who have contributed to this achievement. I am very thankful to my fantastic assistant coaches, my awesome family, great friends, and the unbelievable support from the Dawson Community College employees, and also the wonderful community of Glendive, Montana who have supported my program throughout the years. I couldn’t have done it without each and every one of them.”
DCC is 22-2 this season, the best start for LeProwse since arriving.
