Phil McClure hired to coach Dawson Community College baseball

GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College recently announced that Phil McClure will be taking the reins of its baseball program.

McClure graduated from West Virginia University and earned a Master’s Degree in Sports Management from Liberty University. He arrives with years of experience coaching at Southwest Tennessee Community College and Ecclesia College, as well as working as a General Manager in the Beach Collegiate Baseball League and Head Coach of the Stars of Tomorrow U17 team. His latest stint was at the NJCAA Division I level at Southwest Tennessee Community College where he served as an assistant coach for two seasons and the interim head coach for one season.

In his seven years of coaching college baseball, McClure has signed over 100 players, had a player drafted by Major League Baseball, has three former players playing professionally, and has several players who have signed to play at the NCAA Division I level.

McClure’s coaching philosophy consists of five main elements: Discipline, Accountability, Integrity, Loyalty and Dedication.

“We were sad to see Coach Lewis leave after all that he has done for DCC the past few years, but we are extremely excited to hire Phil McClure to continue our strong baseball tradition from the last 20 years,” said DCC Athletic Director Joe Peterson. “Coach McClure is hard-working, organized, well-connected, and energetic.I know he is going to do an excellent job of helping our student-athletes develop on and off the field. Buccaneer baseball has a bright future.”

McClure will be relocating from Houston, Texas to Glendive with his wife Alycia and two sons, Hunter and Zachary . Coach McClure will be in town Tuesday and ready to start working his team on Wednesday, August 22nd
