GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College freshman catcher Brandon O’Bryant has signed his NAIA National Letter of Intent to play for Oklahoma Panhandle State University beginning next fall, the Bucs announced on Monday.
O’Bryant, originally from Boca Raton, Florida, joined the Bucs in January as a spring semester enrollee. In his freshman season the rookie hit .389 with a .389 on-base percentage and slugged .500.
“Brandon had a tough year, he got hurt at the beginning of spring break and missed most of the spring break trip, then suffered another injury in a conference series here at home,” DCC head coach Chris Lewis said. “Unfortunately, injuries are a part of baseball and can be extremely frustrating, especially mentally, but I give him a lot of credit because he handled it all very well. I think Boca Raton and Glendive have to be absolute polar opposites in just about every way and I know the transition was a shock, but he matured a lot in his short time here. He has the tools to play so if he can stay healthy, he is going to have a shot to make an impact. We are proud of his growth and excited to follow his career.”
Oklahoma Panhandle State University is located in Goodwell, Oklahoma, and is a member of the Sooner Athletic Conference.
