EUGENE, Ore. — After a second-team all-American finish at last year’s NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Sadi Henderson didn’t advance to the finals in the 800-meter run on Thursday.
Henderson, a former Montana cross country and track and field state champion at Corvallis High School who now runs at Boise State, ran a 2:08.30 in the first of three heats on Thursday, good for an eighth-place finish in the heat and 22nd overall. Henderson’s teammate Kristie Schoffield was 21st with a 2:07.66.
Texas A&M junior Jazmine Fray ran the fastest qualifying time, 2:02.55. The top two in each heat, along with the next two fastest times, advance to Saturday’s final. The race is scheduled for 5:44 p.m. (MST).
.@Sadi_Henderson has become a mainstay here at the national championships. And the talented junior hasn’t gotten to where she is by accident – it’s been year after year of hard work. #BleedBlue pic.twitter.com/kB11jtas0e

Henderson entered the NCAA Outdoor Championships with the 16th-fastest seed time, a 2:04.26 from the Oregon Twilight meet in early May. She owns a personal-best of 2:02.33 in the 800 outdoors, finished second in the Mountain West Conference outdoor championship in the 800, and won the conference’s indoor title earlier this season. She just missed qualifying for the finals last spring. Henderson ran the eighth-fastest time in the semifinals, a 2:04.95, but wasn’t among the top two finishers in her heat, nor the next two fastest times.
Henderson now owns three second-team all-American honors in the 800, along with Thursday’s honorable mention finish.
