BILLINGS – Adding more depth to the backcourt, the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets have added a Livingston’s Jakim Ricketts to the 2018 class. A 6-foot-2-inch guard, Ricketts comes to the Yellowjackets after a successful prep career at Park High School. This is the fourth recruit of head coach Mick Durham’s inaugural class at MSUB and the first high school signee.

“Jakim is a very focused young man both on and off the court,” Durham said of the Livingston native. ”He wants to be good and I believe he has the talent to play at this level. Jakim is also an excellent student as he is the Valedictorian of Park County High School. We are excited that he has decided to attend MSUB.”

Ricketts is a four-year academic all-state honoree and finished his Park career as a Central A first team all-conference selection. As a senior, he averaged 14.7 points per game to lead the Rangers. Ricketts played four sports as a prep, earning four letters on the basketball team, three with the tennis team and one each for football and track.

“I felt MSUB was the right fit for me academically,” Ricketts said of joining the Yellowjackets. “I also like the campus and community in Billings. I am confident in Coach Durham and his staff’s ability to foster success with the men’s basketball program.”

Joining Brendan Howard, Seth Christiaens and Melvin Newbern Jr., Ricketts is the first backcourt player in the 2018 class. He joins a guard group that will be led by Kobe Terashima and Tyler Green in the upcoming season.
