GLENDIVE – Dawson added another in-state recruit to its roster for next year. 6’2 wing Hunter McKinney is the latest to sign his NJCAA Letter of Intent with the Buccaneers. As a junior, McKinney helped the Bison of Great Falls High School to a 17-8 record, finishing 4th at state. As a senior, they were 20-6 overall and finished in 3rd place at state. He was selected to the Eastern AA All-Divisional team and led his team in 3-pointers made. He averaged 8 points and 3 assists per game while shooting 38% from the 3 point line. In the Montana Senior Classic in Billings, McKinney won the 3-point shooting contest while competing against all of the best seniors from around the state.

DCC Coach Joe Peterson was pleased to add another quality in-state recruit, “Hunter is a solid young man with a great work ethic. The three major things he is bringing to our program is his ability to shoot, his communication on the court and the fact that he is a great teammate. I see him fitting in really well with our team next year and filling a critical role.”

McKinney is the 6th signee for the Bucs who have to replace several key players who are moving on to four-year schools next year. This is what the DCC signee had to say, “I chose to attend Dawson next year because the style of the campus really suits me as an individual and makes me feel important. Coach Peterson and Coach Manny make me feel like a vital piece of the team, and it means a lot that they truly believe in me as a player. I believe that I can make a tremendous amount of growth as a player and as a student during my time at Dawson.”
