PORTLAND, Ore. – Ending her final career home event with a victory, Montana State University Billings women’s golf senior Bailee Dexter has been selected as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week.
Dexter, who has shot a score of 80 or better in all seven of her rounds during the 2018 spring season, claimed her second GNAC weekly honor of the year. She was named the GNAC Player of the Week for March 12-18, and as a junior in 2016 won the award for the week of Oct. 3-9.
“Bailee played solid for us both days last week, but her 75 in the cold and wind on the second day was very impressive,” said MSUB head coach Kevin Woodin. “She knows how to battle every shot and never quits out on the course.”
Dexter fought through frigid, windy conditions in the final round of the Yellowjacket Spring Invite on Tuesday, posting the top individual score of the tournament with a 3-over-par 75 at Lake Hills Golf Club. Dexter started her second round with an eagle and never looked back, as she claimed the individual title by four strokes over teammate Sammy Walter.
Dexter’s solid second round came after an 80 in the opener, as she finished the event with a two-round total of 155.
Dexter leads the Yellowjackets and is No. 9 in the GNAC with a scoring average of 79.8 strokes per round this year. She competes this week in the GNAC Championships for the fourth consecutive season, a tournament that she placed No. 6 at as both a freshman in 2015 and a sophomore in 2016.
