Falokun named D1 All-America for Dawson Community College

GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College Basketball Player Simon Falokun was named as an All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The 6’9 forward from Alief Taylor High School in Houston was a freshman this year for the Buccaneers. He averaged 16.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game in the Mon-Dak Conference, leading the league in rebounds per 40 minutes by averaging 18.7. Falokun also shot 57% from the field for the season and was the #1 player in the country for low-post efficiency according to Synergy Sports Technology by scoring 1.077 points per possession every time he touched the ball in the post area. The left-handed forward helped the Bucs to a 24-8 record on the season and were the Region XIII Runners-up.

His coach, Joe Peterson, was very proud, “I’m amazed at how much Simon has developed during the time he has been at Dawson. He works hard and puts in the time and deserves whatever honor he is given. I think he is going to keep improving by leaps and bounds each year. Whoever gets him next year is going to be very pleased. He gets the job done on the court and in the classroom.”

Falokun is one of only 50 players throughout the country who are selected to the All-American team at the Division I level. There are 207 D1 teams throughout the U.S. and over 3,000 players who participated at that level this season.
