GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College Softball took the lead late and defeated Williston State College 12-4 on Wednesday. The game was tied at four with Dawson batting in the bottom of the sixth when Reannon Justice singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Lady Buccaneers secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the sixth inning. Reannon Justice, Jayden Draper, Sidra Montoya, Kylee Hergenrider, Anna Snyder, and Katelyn Teixeira all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Dawson got things moving in the first inning. Lexi Pettersen grounded out, scoring one run. Lady Bucs knotted the game up at four in the bottom of the fifth inning, when Lexi Pettersen homered on a 3-1 count, scoring two runs. Hailee Gregerson was on the mound for Dawson. She surrendered four runs on six hits over six innings, striking out four and walking zero. Salgado got the start for Williston State College. She surrendered nine runs on ten hits over five and a third innings, striking out two. Somerville threw one-third of an inning in relief. Dawson racked up 13 hits on the day. Draper, Teixeira, and Justice each collected multiple hits. Draper went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Lady Buccaneers in hits. Coach LeProwse said, “I was real pleased with the way Hailee Gregerson pitched in this game. She had great command of all of her pitches and did not walk anyone. I was also real pleased with the way that we hit the ball in this game. We did a great job as a team driving in runs when we had runners in scoring position.”
Williston State College Runs Away With Early Lead in Victory
Lady Bucs Softball fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 16-6 loss to Williston State College on Wednesday. Williston scored on a double by Withouse and a double by Huckaby in the first inning. Despite the loss, DCC did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Williston State College had 18 hits on the way to victory. Williston got on the board in the first inning when Withouse doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs. Dawson scored three runs in the second inning. Reannon Justice and Jayden Draper powered the big inning with RBIs. Williston scored ten runs in the second inning. The big inning for WSC came thanks to home runs by Salgado, a walk by Swanson, a triple by Somerville, a single by Mariscal, and a fielder’s choice by Lujan. Somerville led things off on the hill for Williston . She allowed two runs on zero hits. Jordyn O’Neal led things off on the hill for DCC Softball. She surrendered five runs on four hits over one inning. Mckenna Sorenson and Jayden Draper entered the game as relief, throwing three and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively. Williston tallied two home runs on the day. Salgado had a dinger in the second inning. Lady Bucs saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Reannon Justice and Jazmayne Peake each managed multiple hits for Dawson. Peake and Justice all had two hits to lead Dawson. Williston totaled 18 hits. Salgado, Huckaby, Mariscal, Withouse, Salgado, and Somerville each had multiple hits. Salgado went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Williston in hits. Williston State College didn’t commit a single error in the field. Swanson had eight chances in the field, the most on the team. Coach LeProwse stated that, “we let this one get out of control early and could not recover. Our pitchers struggled in the circle and did not hit spots very well. I was however pleased with the way we hit the ball and kept battling back.”
Teixeira Collects Four Hits as Dawson Softball Defeats Williston State
Katelyn Teixeira gave Williston State College fits, as she bagged four hits in Dawson Softball’s 10-2 victory on Thursday. Teixeira singled in the first, singled in the fourth, singled in the fifth, and singled in the seventh. Dawson opened up scoring in the first inning. Dawson scored one run on a stolen base. Lady Bucs put up three runs in the seventh inning. Wyniah Mintz, Katelyn Teixeira, and Lexi Pettersen each had RBIs in the big inning. Hailee Gregerson led things off in the circle for Dawson. She went seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits and striking out four. Salgado started the game for Williston. She went seven innings, allowing ten runs on nine hits and striking out three. Dawson collected nine hits. Teixeira and Justice all collected multiple hits for Dawson. Teixeira went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Lady Buccaneers in hits. Coach LeProwse had this to say. Hailee had another great performance in the circle for us today. She held a good hitting Williston team to only five hits. Offensively we had another great game Katelyn had an outstanding day at the plate going 4-for-5. It is always a game changer when we can have Kate on base this often. Kate runs the bases as well as anyone and she is always a threat to steal and take extra bases with her tremendous speed.
Kylee Hergenrider Drives in Six to DCC Softball Victory Over Williston
Kylee Hergenrider was clutch at the plate with runners on base on Thursday, driving in six on three hits to lead Dawson Community College Softball past Williston State College 13-3 on Thursday. Hergenrider drove in runs on a double in the second, a double in the third, and a triple in the sixth. Dawson earned the victory despite allowing Williston State College to score three runs in the second inning. Williston batters contributing to the big inning included Salgado and Salgado, who all drove in runs. Lady Bucs took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning. In the third Hergenrider doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs. Dawson Community College Softball tallied seven runs in the sixth inning. Dawson offense in the inning was led by Lexi Pettersen, Reannon Justice, and Kylee Hergenrider, who each had RBIs in the inning. Mckenna Sorenson led things off in the circle for Lady Buccaneers. She lasted six innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out four. Salgado was on the mound for Williston State College. She lasted six innings, allowing nine hits and 13 runs while striking out three. Dawson racked up nine hits on the day. Hergenrider and Pettersen all collected multiple hits for Dawson. Pettersen and Hergenrider all had three hits to lead Lady Bucs. Salgado led Williston State College with two hits in three at bats. Williston State College didn’t commit a single error in the field. Mulligan had nine chances in the field, the most on the team. Coach LeProwse had this to say, “We hit the ball real well once again. Kylee Hergenrider had an outstanding game at the plate hitting two doubles and a single and driving in six runs. The top of our line up did a great job of getting on base which allowed the middle of the line up to drive them in. We did not leave too many people on base today and that was the biggest difference in this game. I am real pleased with the way that we played this week. We are sitting 3-1 in our conference and have quite a twelve conference games left to play. The weather this year has been real tough on our schedule, so we will be playing a lot of games in the next couple of weeks.”
