Trio of Dawson Community College men named all-conference

GLENDIVE – Dawson Community College basketball players Brent Finn and Simon Falokun were named first team All Mon-Dak Conference and Tyrell Harper was a second team selection.

Finn is a 6’0 sophomore from Big Timber, Montana where he starred for Sweet Grass County High School.  In his second year playing for Dawson, he has led the Buccaneers in scoring all year long and averaged 18.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg and 2.5 apg while shooting 45.6% from the 3-point line and 90.2% from the free throw line during league play.  He was the 8th leading scorer in the conference, but was 1st in free throw percentage and 2nd in 3-point percentage.  He scored in double digits in 27 of the Bucs 30 regular season games.

Falokun is a 6’9 freshman from Houston, Texas.  He came from Alief Taylor high school.  He averaged 16.7 ppg, 10.3 rpg in league play and shot 57% from the field for the season.  He was the third leading rebounder in the conference, but actually led in rebounds per 40 minutes by averaging 18.7 rebounds.  He was 2nd in offensive rebounding. Falokun scored in double digits in every game this season except for one and recorded 16 double doubles on the season.

Harper is a 6’7 sophomore from Orlando, Florida.  He transferred to DCC from Iowa Central.  He had a slow start to the season but came on strong during the conference games in January and February.  He averaged 14.8 ppg, 11 rpg and 3.5 apg.  He was the leading rebounder in the conference and recorded 9 double-doubles on the season including 5 of the last 6 games.

The DCC Buccaneers finished the regular season 23-7 and were 9-3 in the conference which was good enough for 2nd place.  They will be playing Lake Region State College in the NJCAA Division 1 Region XIII Semifinals on Saturday in Wahpeton, ND at 6:00 pm CST.
