GLENDIVE – After a tie-breaking coin toss, it’s been determined Dawson Community College’s basketball women will host Williston State College on Wednesday, February 28 at 7 p.m. in the Toepke Center.

DCC has a conference record of 8-4 and overall record of 19-11. Williston is 1-11 in conference and 3-26 overall. Williston is the 5th seed, and this will be the 3rd matchup between the two teams. Dawson swept Williston twice in the regular conference season, 79-60 and 79-61.

In a 3-way tie for second place in the Mon-Dak Conference standings, Dawson Community College was issued a 4th place seeding for the Region XIII Tournament. The seedings were decided on a coin toss between DCC, Lake Region State and Bismarck State.

Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. had some interesting comments on the seedings, “We of course wanted to secure second place by defeating Bismarck, but obviously that wasn’t the case. After it was all said and done, we were sure we wanted to be a fourth seed for a few reasons. One, we wanted to our last home game to be a win. Second, we wanted winning momentum going into the semi-finals. Thirdly, we knew that we could defeat the fifth seed and complete another 20 win season. Lastly, we would rather have Lake Region and Bismarck duke it out because if we paired with Bismarck first, then the odds would have been against us since they have our number right now. We wanted requested the 4th seed, but were denied. So after the coin toss, we were informed that our wish was granted. So we are sitting fine.”

If the Lady Bucs can defeat the Lady Tetons on Wednesday, then they will move into the semi-final game on Saturday, March 3rd at 12:00 pm in Wahpeton, ND to face #1 seed North Dakota State College at Science. The winner of that game will play the winner of Lake Region and Bismarck for the Region XIII Tournament Championship on Sunday, March 4th at 2:00 pm.
