FRESNO, Calif. — Olivia Roberts scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as Wyoming lost its second consecutive Mountain West Conference women’s basketball game on Saturday. The Cowgirls lost 60-47 at Fresno State to fall to 7-3 in league play.
Roberts’ 15 points were a team-high for Wyoming, the Missoula Sentinel High School product made just five of 13 field goal attempts and committed six turnovers. As a team, Wyoming turned the ball over 16 times, which led to 14 Fresno State points. The Bulldogs, who got 19 points from Candice White and 15 from Maddi Utti, turned the ball over just three times in the game.
The Cowgirls led by five points early in the first quarter, but Fresno State rallied for a 17-16 lead after the first 10 minutes. The Bulldogs built the lead to 30-24 at half and 43-35 after three.
Wyoming entered the week atop the Mountain West Conference standings, but the Cowgirls have fallen behind UNLV in the league standings after two consecutive losses. Wyoming (14-7 overall, 7-3 conference) travels to Utah State for a 7 p.m. Wednesday tipoff.
