Wyoming Cowboys set for battle with Fresno State

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Cowboys will square off with Fresno State for a noon start on Saturday in the Arena-Auditorium. Saturday’s game will mark the first meeting between the schools since the four overtime contest in the Arena-Auditorium last season on Feb. 8 that saw UW win 102-100.

The game will be broadcasted by AT&T SportsNet with Jerry Schemmel on the call and Sed Bonner on the color. Fans can watch, listen and follow live stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network. Dave Walsh will have the play-by-play alongside Kevin McKinney on the color.

A Look at the Matchup
The Pokes return to Laramie carrying a four game winning streak, as UW is 15-7 overall and 6-3 in the MW. Wyoming made history on Wednesday at Colorado State winning their sixth overtime contest of the year tying an NCAA Division I record for overtime wins in a season.

The Pokes hit 14 threes on Wednesday and have now hit 190 on the season. The 14 triples was a season high. Wyoming is shooting 44 percent from the field and allowing opponents to shoot 43 percent. Wyoming is second in the nation this season with 426 made free throws. UW is shooting 75 percent from the line this season.

The Bulldogs head to Laramie with a 15-8 overall record and a 5-5 mark in the league. Fresno State is one of the nation’s top shooting teams shooting 50 percent from the field for second in the MW and No. 14 in the nation.

Fresno State shoots 41 percent from behind the arc that also ranks second in the league and No. 14 in the nation. The Bulldogs are second in the conference in steals this season with 156. Fresno State also protects the basketball with only 11.2 turnovers per game.

Each Team’s Leaders
The Pokes are led in scoring by the reining MW Player of the Week Justin James. He pours in 19.1 points per game for fourth in the MW and No. 65 in the nation. James scored 25 points at Colorado State. Senior Hayden Dalton is second on the team at 17.3 points per game. He leads the team grabbing 8.1 rebounds per game for fifth in the conference. He had 26 points on Wednesday evening.

Senior forward Alan Herndon leads the MW in blocks per game at 2.3, which ranks No. 29 in the nation. His 50 total blocks also leads the conference and ranks No. 27 in the nation. He adds 12.3 points per game. Senior guard Louis Adams adds 9.7 points per game off the Cowboy bench.

The Bulldogs are led in scoring by Deshon Taylor at 19.2 points per game for third in the conference and No. 63 in the nation. He ranks fifth in the nation in made free throws this season at 158. Taylor is third in the league with 35 total steals. Bryson Williams adds 13.2 points per game and a team-high six rebounds per night. He leads the MW and ranks No.11 in the nation in field goal percentage at 65 percent.

About the Series
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 15-10 in a series that dates back to 1972. The Pokes are 9-3 all-time against Fresno State in Laramie.
