Wyoming Cowboys wrap up road swing at Colorado State Wednesday

LARAMIE, Wyo. – The Pokes will wrap up their short road swing on Wednesday night heading to Border War rival Colorado State for a 7 p.m. start in Moby Arena. The Rams took the first meeting this season in Laramie by a score of 78-73.

The game will be broadcasted by AT&T SportsNet with Conor McGahey on the call and Sed Bonner on the color. Fans can watch, listen and follow live stats on GoWyo.com. The game will be broadcast live on radio over the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network. Dave Walsh will have the play-by-play alongside Kevin McKinney on the color.

The Pokes head to Fort Collins with a 14-7 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play as winners of three-straight. Wyoming’s last lost came at the hands of the Rams on Jan. 13. Wyoming played back-to-back overtime games last week both resulting in wins over No. 23 Nevada and San Jose State. UW has won a school record five overtime games this season in a school record five extra time contests.

The Pokes have made 405 made free throws this season to lead the MW and rank fourth in the nation. The Pokes are tenth in the nation and second in the MW in free throw attempts at 536. UW is shooting 76 percent from the line this season. Wyoming is forcing 15 turnovers per game for second in the MW.

The Rams are 10-13 overall and 3-7 in the conference. Colorado State leads the MW in offensive rebounds per game at 12.3 per game. CSU also leads the MW in total rebounds this season with 869.

The Rams are shooting 41 percent from the field with the opposition connecting from the field at a 45 percent clip. The Rams average 6.7 three pointers per game with opponents adding 9.5 per night, as the opposition shoots 36 percent from behind the arc.

The Pokes are led in scoring by the reining MW Player of the Week Justin James. He pours in 18.9 points per game for third in the MW and No. 73 in the nation. James scored 33 points in both games last week for a career-high. Senior Hayden Dalton is second on the team at 16.9 points per game. He leads the team grabbing 8.1 rebounds per game for fifth in the conference.

Senior forward Alan Herndon leads the MW in blocks per game at 2.2, which ranks No .31 in the nation. His 47 total blocks also leads the conference and ranks No. 30 in the nation. He adds 12.3 points per game. Senior guard Louis Adams adds 10 points per game off the Cowboy bench.

The Rams are led in scoring by Prentiss Nixon at 17.9 point per game. He has been out the last two games with an injury. The Rams second leading scorer is J.D. Paige at 10.4 per game, he suffered an injury against San Diego State. Che Bob adds 9.9 points per game and 6.8 rebounds. Nico Carvacho adds 8.3 points per game to go along with a team high 9.6 rebounds, as he averages 12.2 in conference play.

The Cowboys lead the all-time series 133-95, but the Rams have taken the last three meetings including downing the Pokes 78-73 in Laramie on Jan. 13.

Wyoming returns home on Saturday hosting Fresno State for a noon start in the Arena-Auditorium. That contest will be on AT&T SportsNet.
