MORAGA, Calif. — Jill Barta scored 19 points and had six rebounds as the Gonzaga women earned a 73-65 road win over Saint Mary’s on Thursday evening.
Barta, the former Fairfield Eagles standout and Montana Gatorade player of the year, made seven of 19 field goals and hit all five of her free throw attempts as Gonzaga remained undefeated in the West Coast Conference. The Zags improved to 7-0 in league play and 14-4 overall.
Barta also had three steals and two blocks in the win.
Gonzaga led 21-18 after the opening quarter and took a 41-33 advantage into the halftime locker room. Saint Mary’s cut the deficit to 51-50 with 9:38 to play, but the Zags used a 22-15 run to end the game.
Barta and Gonzaga welcome Santa Clara to Spokane on Saturday afternoon. Opening tip is slated for 2 p.m.
