HELENA — Three-time state wrestling placer Devin Crawford has a new home for the 2019-20 school year. The 2019 160-pound state champion will join the Montana State-Northern Lights’ wrestling team.
Even though he still has a bit of time to wait before he makes Havre his home during the school year, the Helena High senior is excited to become a Light.
“They have a really good wrestling team and coach and I like the schooling options there,” Crawford said. “I’m pretty excited to get with my new team and be with a group of kids that are all there, that are there for a reason obviously, because they’re all tough so that’s going to be nice, because every one else is on the same mission as me.”
Aiding Crawford on that new mission are tactics that Helena High head coach Sam Bogard taught him over his high school career, like teaching Crawford, “to be more mentally prepared,” Bogard said.
“Once you get to that next level it’s a lot of mental. Even at the high school level being mentally prepared is just as important as being physically prepared,” Bogard said.
