BOZEMAN – The Eastern AA seeding tournament was held Saturday at Bozeman High School with athletes from the conference’s seven schools competing for seeding at the state wrestling tournament.

Bozeman led the way by putting seven of its wrestlers into the championship matches, followed by Billings Senior and Billings West, who both had five in title bouts. But at the end of the tournament, three teams tied for the most individual champions at this year’s divisionals: Bozeman, Billings West and Butte each had three individual winners.

The Hawks, which are runaway favorites to win the State AA team championship next weekend in Billings, crowned Tayt Rogers (120 pounds), Leif Schroeder (132) and Chance McLane (152). Sterling Quinn, Brock Rodrigues, Coy Cohenour and Tom Walkup placed runner-up for Bozeman and coach Nate Laslovich.

Team scores were not kept at the Class AA seeding tournaments.

Billings West’s top contenders for state titles earned No. 1 seeds next weekend, with Drake Rhodes and Jace Rhodes winning the 113- and 170-pound championships. Levi Malcom was the heavyweight champion, defeating Walkup in the championship match.

Keagan Gransberry, Carl Anderson and Kameron Moreno were Butte’s individual medalists.

The individual placer results can be found below, while complete brackets are available at www.trackwrestling.com. The top eight wrestlers in each weight class advance to the state tournament, which begins Friday at Billings’ Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark.
