BUTTE — Days after capturing an individual title at the prestigious Miles City Cowboy Invitational wrestling tournament, Billings Senior’s Alejandro Madrid has climbed back to the No. 1 slot in the latest Class AA coaches poll. Madrid is top-ranked at 113 pounds.

After finishing third at the Tom LeProwse Battle in the Bridgers wrestling invite on Jan. 5, Madrid held the same ranking in the ensuing coaches poll. But his performance in Miles City returned him to the top spot he held earlier this season. Billings West freshman Drake Rhodes, who finished runner-up to Madrid in Miles City, is ranked second, while Butte’s Wil Queer is third in the weight class.

Madrid’s teammate Matthew DeWitt remains the No. 1 126-pound wrestler, while Jahzriel Peak held his top ranking at 138 pounds. The Broncs remain No. 2 in the team poll behind Bozeman, which boasts four No. 1 individuals, the most of any program.

Madrid was the lone change atop the individual rankings this week, with the other 12 top-ranked wrestlers the same from last week’s polls.

Billings West, Butte, Great Falls High and Helena Capital round out the top six in the team poll.

The complete results of the weekly Class AA wrestling coaches poll can be found below.
