East tops West in second annual All-Star wrestling dual in Great Falls

GREAT FALLS – For the second straight year, the East proved more powerful than the West on the wrestling mats, earning a 32-16 win in the annual All-Star dual at the University of Providence.

The dual featured six returning state champions and 25 wrestlers ranked in the top three of their respective class and weight divisions. Mick Chagnon of Havre opened the dual with a 10-5 decision over Butte’s Keagan Gransbery at 103 pounds to put the East team on top 3-0. The West countered with two wins from two Frenchtown wrestlers: Walker Dyer earned a pin at 113 and Jake Bibler took an 11-4 decision.

The East team won the next five matches to build an insurmountable lead. Havre wrestlers went 4-for-4 at the dual with Chagnon, Lane Paulson, Martin Wilkie and Connor Harris all earning wins.
