SIDNEY — Strong performances at the Tri-State Invitational vaulted Havre High in the latest Class A wrestling polls, which were released on Tuesday. The Blue Ponies climbed from No. 4 to second, leaping past Frenchtown (No. 4) and Polson (No. 3) in this week’s polls.
Undefeated Martin Wilkie sealed his first Tri-State individual title, winning the 145-pound championship to lead Havre to a fifth-place finish in Coeur d’Alene, the highest finish of Montana teams. Wilkie remains top-ranked in Montana’s 145-pound class, while Mick Chagnon, who finished runner-up over the weekend, is still No. 1 at 103 pounds.
Cameron Pleninger (120 pounds) and Lane Paulson (138 pounds) are ranked second in their respective weight classes, while Connor Harris is third at 152 pounds and Brydn Stadel fifth at 182. Austin Ratliff is the final Blue Pony ranked, No. 6 in the 205-pound class.
Frenchtown, which is ranked No. 4 in the team poll, also had a strong showing at the Tri-State Invite, with Walker Dyer and Jake Bibler earning individual titles. Dyer is No. 1 in the 113-pound weight class, while Bibler is top-ranked at 120 this week. Landen Stewart sits behind Chagnon at 103 pounds.
Polson jumped past the Broncs and sits No. 2 this week, with Hunter Frisch the highest-ranked Pirate at No. 2 (170 pounds). Logan Adler is third at 182.
Defending state champion Sidney remains the No. 1 team in Class A with two Eagles ranked No. 1 this week. Aden Graves still sits first at 132 pounds, as does Jett Jones at 182. Kaiden Cline fell one spot to No. 2 at 113 pounds, Christian Dean remains No. 2 behind Wilkie at 145 and Jace Winter is ranked second behind Belgrade’s John Mears at 152.
Riley Waters is also No. 2, his the 160-pound weight class, while Brody Skogen is third at 285 and Jordan Darby, Everett Jensen and Trevor Dean are fourth at 120, 126 and 170, respectively.
