FRENCHTOWN -- Whitefish's Ella Shaw defeated Corvallis' Macee Greenwood in a one-hole playoff to claim the individual title at the Western A golf tournament on Thursday at King Ranch Golf Course in Frenchtown.
Shaw and Greenwood were knotted at 85 strokes apiece after 18 holes, but Shaw ended the playoff in a hurry. Greenwood's individual title was part of Whitefish's banner day, as the Bulldogs held off second-place Corvallis by 12 strokes. Frenchtown finished in third place.
Whitefish's Cameron Kahle won the boys individual title after firing an even-par 72, but Hamilton's boys would claim the team title behind Tristan Hanson and Bryce Reed, who finished second and third, respectively, at 79 strokes.
Hamilton held off Whitefish by 11 strokes for the crown, while Whitefish claimed second by just four strokes over Frenchtown.
The State A golf tournament will be held Oct. 3-4 at Laurel Golf Club.
