State B volleyball roundup: Florence to meet Huntley Project in undefeated semifinal

BOZEMAN — The Class B state volleyball tournament kicked off Thursday morning at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse on the Montana State University Campus.

HUNTLEY PROJECT DEF. FAIRFIELD 25-16, 25-16, 25-10

Huntley Project is on to the undefeated semifinal again after the Red Devils swept Fairfield in the final Class B match of the day. Huntley Project will meet Florence on Friday evening.

The three-headed attack of Alana Graves (16), Mollee Krum (12) and Emily Poole (12) each had more kills than the Fairfield team as a whole (11). Poole also had four aces in the win.

Kyler Bake had seven of Fairfield’s 11 kills. The Eagles will play the Choteau/Joliet winner in loser-out action on Friday afternoon.

FLORENCE DEF. ROUNDUP 25-19, 25-9, 25-12

Florence knocked off Roundup in straight sets to advance to Friday’s undefeated semifinal round.

Sarah Hopcroft led the way for Florence with 16 kills, 15 digs and five aces. Halle Christopherson had 31 of Florence’s 32 assists.

Roundup’s Chloe Cota had nine kills and 10 digs. The Panthers will face the winner of Wolf Point/Deer Lodge in loser-out play on Friday afternoon.

FAIRFIELD DEF. DEER LODGE 25-15, 25-15, 25-18

Kyler Bake put on a dominant defensive performance, racking up 15 blocks to push Fairfield to Thursday’s quarterfinals against Huntley Project. Bake also added five kills.

Chesney Rogers had a game-high 23 digs for the Eagles, while teammates Kenna Pitcher and Reegan Carper each had 13.

Sophia Burton led Deer Lodge with seven kills and Kamryn Scully had 14 assists. Deer Lodge will face Wolf Point in loser-out play Friday at noon.

HUNTLEY PROJECT DEF. WOLF POINT 23-25, 25-9, 25-12, 25-4

Huntley Project lost its first set to a Class B team this season, but rallied for dominant wins in the next three sets to move on to the quarterfinals.

Addy Hultgren had 42 assists for the Red Devils, while Emily Poole (17), Alana Graves (13) and Mollee Krum (11) had 41 of Huntley Project’s 48 kills. Krum added a team-high four blocks and Poole had 15 digs.

Imani Bighorn led Wolf Point with six kills and four blocks. Wolf Point will be in loser-out action at noon on Friday.

FLORENCE DEF. JOLIET 25-20, 26-24, 25-21

Sarah Hopcroft had match-high 16 kills to lead Florence to a sweep of Joliet in the opening round of the Class B state volleyball tournament. The Falcons move on to face Roundup in Thursday’s quarterfinal match.

Halle Christopherson had 36 assists for Florence, while Shannon Byrne had 25 digs and two aces in the victory.

Shayla Webber had 17 assists and three aces, while Makenna Bushman had 14 kills to lead the Joliet attack. Joliet will face Choteau in loser-out action Friday morning.

ROUNDUP DEF. CHOTEAU 26-24, 25-16, 25-21

Meghan Eiselein had 13 kills and 2.5 blocks to lead Roundup to a straight-sets victory over Choteau in the opening match of the Class B state volleyball tournament on Thursday. The Panthers won 26-24, 25-16 and 25-21 to advance to Thursday evening’s quarterfinal round to face Florence.

Eiselein and Chloe Cota combined for 23 of Roundup’s 36 kills, with Blythe Sealey assisting on 21 of the Panthers’ attacks. Sealey added 15 digs and a pair of aces, while Brennan Larson had 20 digs and two aces in the win.

Choteau was led by Nicole Krone’s 10 kills and five blocks in the loss. The Bulldogs play Joliet Friday morning in loser-out action.
