HELENA — In the long-awaited crosstown matchup between Helena Capital and Helena High, Capital proved why it’s on top of the Western AA, winning the contest in straight sets, 25-21, 25-20, 25-22. The teams met earlier this year at Capital with the Bengals winning 3-0.
Capital won the tiebreaker after sweeping Kalispell Flathead during the regular season. Helena High split with the Bravettes, giving the Bruins the better winning percentage over common opponents.
Both teams will get automatic byes to the Class AA state volleyball tournament held at Montana State University in Bozeman beginning Nov. 8. Helena Capital will face the fourth seed from the Eastern AA, while Helena High will face the No. 3 seed from the Eastern AA.
