DILLON – The Southwestern A district volleyball tournament started Friday in Dillon, where Corvallis, Stevensville, Butte Central, Dillon, Hamilton, and Frenchtown all played to keep their seasons alive.

In Game 1, fourth-seeded Dillon met with fifth-seeded Hamilton. The game was close throughout all the sets, but Dillon was able to get the 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 sweep thanks to great play from Tynn Christansen and company.

However, Dillon saw its hopes at a district title crumble when the top-seeded Corvallis Blue Devils took care of the Beavers with ease in a three-set sweep in the third game of the day. Dillon now plays Saturday at 10 a.m. against Frenchtown in the third-place bracket.

In Friday’s second match, Butte Central, on the heels of solid play from Marissa Anderson, would sweep Frenchtown in an intense three sets, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23. Central then waited until 8 p.m. for its matchup with second-seeded Stevensville. The Yellowjackets topped the Maroons in four sets.
