HELENA — Helena Capital proved once again why it’s ranked No. 1 in Class AA, sweeping the Missoula Big Sky Eagles 3-0 on Tuesday.
The Capital Bruins celebrated their Senior Night on Tuesday, recognizing four players and the Bruins’ team manager. The Bruins and Eagles battled back and forth to start the first set at 4-4, but Capital would eventually pull away in the opening set and put it to rest by a score of 25-16.
Capital had no trouble in the final two sets, finishing up the match 25-6 and 25-4, improving to 23-2 overall and 10-1 in conference play. Capital will finish its regular season on Saturday against crosstown rival Helena High as it attempts to maintain its top ranking in the state, while looking to clinch the Western AA conference championship.
Helena High (20-5, 9-1) faces Missoula Big Sky on Thursday and currently owns the tiebreaker over the Bruins after defeating Capital in late September.
