MISSOULA – Sixteen teams played a combined 112 sets on the first day of the Missoula Volleyball Invite Thursday. After the dust finally settled, Helena Capital and Florence topped the two pools and enter the championship bracket on Friday as the top seeds.
Class B Florence made the biggest noise by winning the pool at Missoula Sentinel. The Falcons finished 11-3 on Thursday, just ahead of 10-4 Helena High, the top-ranked team in Class AA. Sentinel and Kalispell Glacier also earned spots in the championship bracket by finishing third and fourth.
Capital finished a perfect 14-0 in the Missoula Big Sky pool. Class A squads Corvallis and Libby impressed, finishing second and third. The third-ranked team in Class AA, Kalispell Flathead, finished fourth and will advance to the championship bracket.
The championship and consolation bracket will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday. The championship and third-place matches are scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
