BUTTE – A clash of two of the best teams in Class A volleyball met at the Maroon Activity Center in Butte Tuesday night. The Corvallis Blue Devils put their unbeaten conference record on the line against the Butte Central Maroons.
The first set acted as a foreshadowing of how the night would play out. The Lady Blue Devils jumped out and grabbed the first three points of the opening set. But the Maroons responded with some nice spikes from Cassidy Strizic that got the team energized. However, Corvallis seemed to have an answer for every momentum swing that didn’t go its way. Maureen Jessop had some nice hits, and even some that simply couldn’t be returned by Butte Central. Charlotte Powell also chipped in on Tuesday night’s spike-fest, grabbing a few points of her own.
Corvallis would win the first set 25-15 and complete the sweep winning the second and third sets 25-17 and 25-13.
The Blue Devils improve to 10-1 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play. The Maroons fall to 8-3 and 5-3 in conference.
