BUTTE – The Polson Pirates paid a visit Saturday to the Maroon Activity Center for volleyball action against Butte Central.
The Maroons forced a 24-24 tie in the first set and would eventually take the first set 29-27 after the Pirates had a 24-20 lead in the set.
Destined to fix its mistakes, Polson jumped out to an 8-5 lead in the second set. The score went back and forth between the two teams until Polson’s Paige Noyes and Misty Tenas made some great plays to give the Pirates a 24-22 lead. Polson was one point away from taking the set, but Marissa Anderson and Allyson Mueller made some great hustle plays to tie it once again at 24-all. Each team would score one point before the Maroons would grab two in a row and take the second set 27-25.
Central went on and won the third set 25-22. The Maroons will be back in action at home on Oct. 4 when they host Frenchtown.
