Huot, Pickens hit No. 2 Helena High volleyball past Missoula Big Sky

HELENA — Taylor Huot and Jamie Pickens combined for 20 kills as No. 2 Helena High trounced Missoula Big Sky in straight sets on Thursday night, 25-9, 25-14, 25-11. The win pushed the Bengals to 6-0 in the Western AA and 15-2 overall.

Pickens had a match-high 12 kills to go with a pair of blocks, while Huot added eight kills of her own in the sweep. It was the second straight win for Helena High this week after the Bengals swept crosstown rival and top-ranked Helena Capital on Tuesday.

“I like our momentum,” said Helena head coach Lindsey Day, who added that the Bengals plan to keep their hot play rolling into October.

Emily Feller tallied 29 of the Bengals’ 31 assists, while Vanessa Walsh and Feller combined for 21 digs in the match. Elizabeth Heuiser and Madison Robertson garnered three services aces each in the win.

Missoula Big Sky fell to 2-12 overall and 0-5 in league play. Katie Rolte had seven kills, Shelby Lenox added 10 digs, but the Eagles earned only nine assists and no aces in the defeat.
