BILLINGS – Billings Senior and Billings West are expected to compete for a state title this season. The two teams met at the Golden Dome on Tuesday night, and it lived up to the billing.
West came out firing in Game 1. Megan Benton got it all started with a fierce kill down the line as the Golden Bears jumped out to a 7-1 lead. West then held a block party, collecting five blocks in the game, as it squeaked by Senior 25-22 in the first set.
The Broncs quickly answered. Senior called on senior leader Kola Bad Bear and she delivered. She kicked off Game 2 with a kill off defenders, and she capped it off by skying high and hammering it home. Senior cruised in the second 25-16.
Senior did not slow down after that. The momentum carried over into Game 3 as the Broncs rolled 25-20, and they were not going to be denied in Game 4.
Senior survived the final game 26-24 as it won the battle of city contenders in four games.
