DILLON — Beaverhead County High senior Dylan Cervelli is having a season for the record books. He’s currently the fastest 400-meter runner in all of Class A and one of the fastest in the entire state.

Cervelli will also run legs on the 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams for the Beavers, who finished second and first this past weekend in Butte at the Western A divisional meet.

However, Cervelli has recently discovered another event that he feels could be a state title in the making. The 200-meter dash was something he didn’t expect to be running at state this year, but thanks to a strong performance at divisionals his eyes are now set on adding another accolade to his high school career.

“I was looking at times the other day and looking at the heats and such, and, yeah, I’m definitely going to try to do something with the 200, also, this year,” said Cervelli. “It was kind of an event that was something I ran and then turned into something at divisionals, so I’m definitely excited for that. The 400, being that second faster than everyone else, I’m going for 48 (seconds). We’ll see how that goes.”
