MISSOULA – Friday was a stormy, wet day in Missoula, but that didn’t stop the Western B and Western C divisional track meets from wrapping up.
Local athletes from Seeley-Swan, Manhattan Christian, Missoula Loyola and Bigfork all helped their squads to team victories.
Hunter Shelmerdine of Seeley became the first male runner in the state to go sub-50 seconds in the 400-meter race at the KLH memorial meet a couple of weeks back. Continuing his dominance Friday, Shelmerdine took first in the 100-, 200- and the 400-meter races.
In Class B, Loyola had team success on the boys and girls side, placing first and second, respectively. Ryan Tirrell took home first in the long jump and was followed by his teammate, Cooper Waters, who placed runner-up. Freshman standout Lani Walker won easily in the girls 100-meter dash.
