Fort Benton girls and boys sweep team titles at District 9C meet

HAVRE — The Fort Benton girls and boys track and field teams each took home the team championships at the District 9C track meet in Havre on Wednesday.

The Longhorn girls scored 221 points, more than double the second-place Chinook girls at 98. Turner took third with 54 points.

Senior Leah Gannon led the way, taking first in the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter dash and the long jump.

On the boys’ side, Fort Benton’s 181 points outpaced Big Sandy, which came in second at 78. North Star and Chinook tied for third at 76 points.

The Longhorn boys were led by sophomore Billy Ullery, who took first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He also ran on both relay teams, each of which took first.

Senior Connor Schnabel won the pole vault at 12 feet, 9 inches. The mark was a personal record for Schnabel and also tied the Fort Benton school record.
