Lewistown boys, Laurel girls claim Laurel JV Invite titles

LAUREL — Lewistown’s boys track and field team held off Laurel, while the Laurel girls held off Miles City to win team titles at Tuesday afternoon’s Laurel JV Invite.

Lewistown, which finished first with 127 points, less than 10 clear of Laurel’s 117.66, was led by several individual victories on the track. Sawyer Fester took the 110-meter hurdles in 18.53 seconds, Logan Wisenbaugh took the 400-meter dash in 55.12 seconds and Sam Fulbright won the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 12.38 seconds. Fulbright also finished second in the 400.

Lewistown added a team victory in the 1,600-meter relay (3:55.76) and Brady Walker added an individual victory in the shot put with a toss of 45 feet, 0.75 inches.

Melstone’s Brody Grebe won all four individual events he entered on Tuesday. Grebe won the discus (127-08), javelin (154-04), high jump (5-10) and 300-meter hurdles (43.51).

On the girls side, Laurel finished with 154 points and second-place Miles City finished with 138.

Laurel won the 1,600-meter relay in 4:37.83 and Grace Timm took the 200-meter dash in 29.73 seconds. The Locomotives were much more successful in the field events. Teigan Harper won the shot put (32-01.75), Laurel placed 3-6 in the discus, 1-5 in the javelin and 2-4 in the pole vault to rack up numerous points across the events.
