BUTTE — It was a sunny, but brisk, day for softball action at Stodden Park in Butte as the Bulldogs welcomed winless Missoula Big Sky on the diamond Thursday.
Butte took a 9-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back on its way to a 23-0 non-conference Class AA win.
Bulldogs pitcher McCaul McCarthy struck out two, and went 1-2-3 for the Bulldogs in the top of the first inning. In the home half of the inning, Butte built its lead with a mixture of walks, past balls, and sacrifice flies.
Big Sky had no answers on offense and scored only three runs, which led to the 20-run mercy rule after four innings of play.
