GREAT FALLS – For a fleeting moment Tuesday afternoon, it looked as if Butte was on the way to upsetting defending Class AA softball champion Great Falls High.
But after the Bulldogs scored five runs in the top of the first inning in Game 1 of a doubleheader, the Bison outscored Butte 38-1 the rest of the way for a doubleheader sweep.
Great Falls High won the first game 17-5 in five innings and followed that up with a 21-1 win in Game 2. The Bison improve to 15-1 overall with a 10-1 mark in the Eastern AA conference. Butte falls to 4-14 overall, 2-10 in East AA play.
The Bison managed 36 hits across the two games, with eight home runs.
