BUTTE — Bozeman hadn’t won a softball game since April 27, 2017.
The Hawks ended the drought on Thursday, notching a 13-9 win at Butte in the Bulldogs’ first home game of the 2019 season.
Bozeman got a run across the board on a wild pitch in the first inning and followed that up with four more runs on mostly wild pitches and fielder’s choices in the second. Butte responded and got the spark it needed in the home half of the inning when MacKenzie Tutty blasted a three-run home run to cut the Hawks’ lead to 5-3 heading into the third inning.
Josie Laufenberg scored a run in the top half of the third to take the momentum away from the Bulldogs as Bozeman ultimately secured the 13-9 win.
