HELENA — Brittany Tierney’s two-run double in the top of the fourth inning wound up being all Butte would need against Helena. The Bulldogs defeated the Bengals 7-3 Saturday afternoon in Helena.
Tierney’s double put the Bulldogs up 4-1, but Bradie Lester added some insurance in the top of the sixth inning. Lester ripped a three-run shot over the fence to put Butte up 7-1. Helena would score one run in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Tierney finished the day 3-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Lester finished 3-4 with those three RBI.
McCaul McCarthy pitched a complete game for the Bulldogs, giving up three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out 12 and walking nine.
