HELENA — Montana’s soccer all-stars squared off against one another, as well as Mother Nature, on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Stadium on the campus of Carroll College for the 20th annual Shodair Soccer Classic.

Lightning delayed the girls game an hour after officials paused the match moments before it began Saturday. Officials actually called the match in a scoreless draw following another lightning delay in the final minutes. Both games featured 30-minute halves.

In the boys contest, the West all-stars scored two goals in the second half, rallying past the East 2-1. Bozeman’s Ted Scott opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, but Missoula Hellgate’s Matt Baldridge knotted the game at 1-1 later in the second half.

Polson’s Mack Moderie scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal.

Each summer, the Shodair Soccer Classic helps the Shodair Hospital for Children in sharing its mission: to heal, help and inspire hope.
