BOZEMAN – The second day of the Class B/C State tennis tournament continued for both boys and girls after the rain pushed every competitor inside the tennis facility at Montana State University.
Bigfork’s Trey Christaens defeated Anaconda’s LeRoy Wilson in straight sets to advance to his third career state title game appearance. He will face Great Falls Central’s Roger Mai in the championship after he defeated Daniel Asselstine of Choteau (6-3,6-4). The state championship between Christaens and Mai will be a rematch of the state title game from 2017 in Missoula. Mai won the title that year in two sets (7-5, 6-2).
The Mustangs are also in the boys doubles and will face off against Missoula Loyola on Saturday morning.
On the girls side, Evelyn Deschens of Missoula Loyola has advanced to the finals in the singles bracket. The freshman will face off against Bigfork senior Payton Crawford in the state crown. Meanwhile, Choteau and Fort Benton will play in the doubles finals.
Championship matches are scheduled to be played at 10:00 a.m. at Montana State.
