MISSOULA — At the beginning of the day, both the Missoula Loyola boys and girls golf teams led their team groups with chances to win titles in both divisions.

The boys were led by the defending champion, Bucky Crippen, and the girls were led by last year’s runner-up, Katie Fagg.

The boys were over at the Ranch Club while the girls were at Canyon River.

In the boys contest, it was Crippen who came into Day 2 with a nine-shot lead over the field at 7-under par. After catching fire and shooting an incredible 65 on Day 1, Crippen seemed to cool down on Day 2 but was still exceptional, finishing with a 75 for a total of 140 for the tournament.

Big Timber’s Blake Finn was as consistent as they come, shooting a 74 on both days to get second place, eight strokes behind Crippen.

Led by Crippen, the Loyola Rams came away with the 2019 team title and Crippen became a back-to-back individual champion.

In the girls contest, it was Katie Fagg leading the pack heading into Day 2 after a solid 74 on Day 1.

It would prove to be a narrower field than the boys, though. Shelby’s Skyler Martin shot a 77 on Day 1 but an 84 on Day 2 to fall back. However, Fagg also dropped a lot of shots on Day 2, shooting an 82.

In the end, Fagg avoided becoming runner-up for the third straight year. She got the chip off her shoulder, winning with a total score of 156 in helping lead the Breakers to the team title.
