MISSOULA — We highlight another nominee for student-athlete of the year at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet. Kylie Lunday excelled on multiple courts for the Missoula Hellgate Knights.

She played a big role in the middle for varsity volleyball and basketball teams for several years, while also playing softball one year, track for four years, and carrying a 3.43 GPA.

Lunday has enjoyed being a multi-sport athlete so much, she doesn’t want to give it up. She is currently picking between junior college options, where she can continue to play both basketball and volleyball next year.

“I’ve just put myself in a situation of playing one sport and thought about how sad I would be if I was watching classmates of mine who play basketball,” admitted Lunday. “And I just really wish I was doing it. I just can’t give it up after all the love I’ve come to have for both sports.”

Lunday and the rest of our nominees and winners will be honored at the KPAX Sports Awards Banquet this Wednesday night. The fun starts at the Hilton Garden Inn at 5:30 p.m. Missoula native and Central Michigan head football coach Jim McElwain is this year’s guest speaker.
